Get Awesome
Last night and today were simply amazing. I hopped into a car with 3 of my close friends to head east for the night. We embarked on our adventure leading us out of the city we all love. No longer in range of work, stress, life worries. Just an adventure leading us over a mountain and into the east plains. We descended into a valley carved by our maker holding a winding river only lit by the moon. Stories. Laughter. Smiles.
The beginning of a summer. No longer is summer a time where I have 3 months of freedom. Only a season of beautiful weather and a chance to capture one of the most breath taking landscapes on the earth, the Pacific Northwest. I am engulfed by work. Drowning in it. Only to be struggling along, paying insurance, making rent, life.
The water was cold as first but the sunshine made up for everything. The raft guided by the 4th person in the crew, no other then my hero, Brett my brother. We launched only to hit some of the first waves and loose one of our passengers, my other brother, Cam. We had begun our fun run on the Dechutes River. Laughing. Smiling. Stories.
The stress that work brings daily, weekly, monthly becomes overwhelming. Depression settles in only to bring low self worth. Injuries laugh at me, not allowing me to live my passion but only taking my happiness. Friends become rare as they plug away at their own dilemmas and walks of life. The pit engulfed me.
Story after story and laugh after laugh we floated the river. The sun was smiling at us and we enjoyed its company. The water was carrying us. Sometimes we paddled and the guide turned the boat into the carefully calculated path. His decisions avoided rocks and kept people safe. Sometimes the paddling was tough but in the end we reached our goals. We made it through. Wet, choking on water sometimes, but alive. Stories. Laughing. Smiling.
Sometimes you just want to say enough is enough. Give up. Pack up and head out of town. Settle in a new nest. Maybe you just wanna mix it up some.
Today my life was perfect. Today meant something. Today was the best day I have had in a very long time. Today I stand smiling and laughing trying to tell a story with my brothers and friends. Today was worth all the lousy days. Thanks Brett Butcher, Cameron Wierson, Tawney Henderson and Ruthie. Love you all

BUY HIGH SELL LOW...no wait. crap
Late January my pops started telling me how he may have found something fun for us both to do. Now this usually means working in the pole barn on the weekends or perhaps fishing or causing some kind of raucous in the wilderness. Not this time. He suggested we play with the most versatile market in America. Wall Street. Now I'm no genius but I like to think I have a good sense of business and know a good product when I see one.
Well my dad was somehow introduced to www.northoftheblue.com (NOTB)and hit it off with the founders Dick and Jim. Shortly we had a the program and I was set to reading the rules of stochastics, volume, bma's and a bunch of things I really had no clue what to make of. Over a week of studying and memorizing rules I gave a shot at my own first paper trades and well, some turned out amazing and some resulted in the exact opposite. I learned the rules needed some extra explanation, which I found when NOTB held its first Portland educational class. I of course was the youngest and greenest person there.
Another week went by and my father and I put bids in on our first stalks that seemed to fit the NOTB criteria. So only 4 days later we have had 4 gains and 1 loss. Not bad IMO. I will post the exact gains and losses once we sell everything (who knows the loss could bounce back haha)
Over ten days I was watching these stochastics began to form a rare and amazingly profitable (so far, have yet to see one fail in 3 years I've been told) sign according to the NOTB charts. I found 3 of them. Not surprisingly all Chinese stocks. My dad, grandpa and I will be purchasing them Tuesday when the stocks open. I am excited to report my success and failures. We shall see how well we do against the NOTB average which is about a 50% gain in 50 days.
Point of the story is this morning, Dick, owner of NOTB has asked me to consider taking a teaching position for his product. He said I am young and just beginning so I can teach what I am learning to other beginners like myself. I am excited for this opportunity because so far this has been something I have enjoyed doing and it has been worth the hours upon hours of self educating. So thanks Dick!
If you happen to stumble on this blog please leave me a message regarding the stocks I will be choosing. I am not at all a financial adviser but I will tell you what I am personally doing

The Dissapointment
As the 2010 season kicks off. Teams are scrambling for sponsorhips...well in some cases bagging and players are going around looking for the best deal they can get. As I look at the pro movements such as Cuba leaving Ironmen, Angel Fragoza retiring, the AA's looking for something and Dave Baines to Impact. There is many more players and teams looking for something out there in the industry.
Now I'm no pro player. But I have paid my dues to the sport. The top players have paid it ten fold. It's sad to me to see amazing players retire since they have to make a 'living' in this life. Paintball players play paintball because they LOVE what they do. I just hate seeing people have to give it up because we do not get the huge contracts that the mainstream sports get.
Well my not making the 2010 semi pro Naughty Dog team can't be to bad. I was told the main reason I did not make this team was because of my financial situation. I work and I work hard, but I can't pay rent, insurance, food, and then on top of that a butt load of money to play paintball. (I'm really thinking about going back to school to sit in a office for the rest of my life haha) Point being. I love paintball and I can't compete with that team because of money. It just plain sucks.
So whats next in the 2010 plan. I remember Michael Jordan was cut in college. He trained twice as hard and he was one of the best ever. This year I will be training my arse off...literally! I'll post a picture of me from today. 3 months from now we will see a slimmer Ryan Butcher. My overall goal will be to help paintball grow. I am going to be more active with Chosen Ministry and Crossfire to get more jr highers out to the field. Have them bring their dad's along and shoot each other up. Its a great bond. I will be out at Supergame...I forget what number, battling for the yellow army! I will also be working on some new product that I hope will change the comfort level (hows that for a hint) of play.
Well I'm going to go drink my sorrows away with a massive glass of chocolate milk.

1st time blog
Ok so Im going to attempt to set this whole thing up and be the next awesomest dude ever in existance, well second coolest.
My goals in this venture is to ultimately have a website linked to family, ministry, and paintball related things of my life. My family comes first. My life sometimes (should always be ministry) and my passion is paintball. I have met most of my friends through the sport, without it I dont know where I would be.
So first off thanks Red Dodge and the oldschool Chosen, Fernando and Nurv who helped me go up the ranks in PB, of course Rocky and the Naughty Dogs, especially KC, Corey and T-mac for kicking my butt.
Tommy Tucker and PBRACK.com get a special shout out. Was my first real sponsor and if you want a crazy adventure, PBRACK is where its at. Also trying to be a sales rep for them.
Jimmy Hickey is the bomb. Your going to go far kid.
Nick Collins and the rest of our armed forces. Stay alive and we're thinking of you.
My hero and brother, Brett Butcher, love you man and happy Birthday!
The rest of my friends and family. Love ya all.
Last but certainly first my Lord and Savior Jesus. Without you I wouldn't be here today.
So thats my thanks and I hope to be posting photos, videos and my daily adventures trying to make it to the pro ranks of paintball.
